Lorac Construction is pleased to have completed numerous projects at the Muttart Conservatory over the years, including their recent Front Entrance Expansion and Renovation. This project involved the demolition of the existing entrance, interior office space, gift shop and café. A new forecourt and courtyard were then constructed, complete with landscaping. Expansion of the existing front entrance was done to house a new gift shop, café, new offices and classroom space.

Lorac Construction has been involved in several disaster restoration projects, including the Lacombe Estates Condominium Fire Reconstruction, reconstruction of the Northgate Lions Senior Recreation Center after a roof collapse, and the reglazing of Edmonton’s City Hall after a windstorm shattered its glass.

The Edmonton Valley Zoo’s Makira Outpost Lemur Pavilion was constructed by Lorac Construction after the demolition of the previous gibbon enclosure. The construction of the new lemur pavilion included an outdoor exhibition island with a surrounding water barrier, as well as related landscaping, site work and utilities.

Muttart Conservatory’s tropical pavilion was completely redeveloped by Lorac Construction. This project included the installation of limestone boulders for landscaping and a water feature, as well as the installation of walkways and a bridge in the existing pavilion. Lorac succeed in completing the project despite restrictions due to the building’s physical access.

Rossdale Traditional Burial Ground

A memorial park for the Rossdale Traditional Native Burial Ground was constructed by Lorac Construction. The park included landscaping and architectural features.

Experienced in demolitions, Lorac Construction has completed numerous demolitions, including of the Mount Royal Hotel and the historic Walter Barn.

Historical restorations and reproductions are one of Lorac Construction’s specialities. We have completed numerous projects with regard to conservation management and the restoration of historical buildings so to retain authenticity, or appear authentic, to a designated historical period.

We have a strong working relationship with the Fort Edmonton Foundation, having completed various projects at Fort Edmonton Park, including the construction of a replica of the historically accurate 1920's Midway and Exhibition building; timber repair and rebuilding of the historic Fort Edmonton Palisades; and the refurbishment of Rowan house, complete with log replacement, and the installation of a new foundation under the existing log structure.

Other projects related to historical buildings and conservation management include renovations and restorations at John Walter Historic Site’s 1901 house after fire damage; in addition to the structural repairs and restoration at the Price of Wales Armory.

Lorac’s contract for structural repairs at Commonwealth Stadium included concrete repairs, expansion joint replacement, and the application of caulking and sealants.
